Even though my ex-husband remarried eight years ago, I’ve never been fond of his rude and judgmental wife. I requested him not to bring her to our 18-year-old son’s graduation since it was MY child’s special day and she didn’t need to be there.
When he agreed, everything seemed right. However, my kid and his father abruptly turned around and went to their car as the event came to an end. Confused, I told them that I was having a modest gathering at my home.
Then my ex told me that they were going to his house because his wife was having a big party to make up for not being at the graduation.
My son’s abrupt statement, «You will never be able to get over the fact that Dad left you for her, Mom, and that is sad,» broke my heart even more. «You’re my mom, but since I was ten, she’s also been my stepmom,» he said.
I was crying by myself in the parking lot. Was it wrong for me to want to enjoy my son’s graduation party without his stepmom ruining it?
