Doherty passed away on July 13 after bravely fighting cancer for several years.

Doherty began her television career at the young age of 11. She started her career with appearances on Voyagers! and Father Murphy, both of which were created and produced by Michael Landon. She was thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Landon again after landing the role of Jenny Wilder on Little House on the Prairie.

She made the switch to film in the late 1980s and had a leading role in the 1988 film, Heathers. In 1990, she returned to television and took on the role of Brenda Walsh in Beverly Hills 90210.

After gaining popularity, she starred in a number of made-for-TV movies before landing a role in the highly successful series Charmed.

After Charmed came to a close, she pursued her acting career, although the majority of the shows she starred in were reality shows.

In February 2015, Doherty shared the news of her breast cancer diagnosis. When she took legal action against her management firm, she claimed that if her health insurance hadn’t lapsed, she could have gone for a routine checkup and prevented the cancer from progressing.

After two years, she joyfully announced that her battle with cancer was finally over.

“I am blessed, I know that. But for now…. remission,” she shared on Instagram at the time.

In 2020, Doherty shared the heartbreaking news that her battle with breast cancer had resurfaced, this time at stage 4.

“I don’t think I’ve processed it. It’s a bitter pill to swallow in a lot of ways,” the actress told ABC News‘ Amy Robach.
