A beaming grandmother joyfully danced the night away at her granddaughter’s wedding, defying the grim predictions of doctors who doubted she would live to witness this special day.

Doreen Cooke has been living with a heart condition known as aortic stenosis for several years, which restricts blood flow in the aortic valve.

Last year, she received the devastating news that no treatment or operation could provide any relief. Her family was given the difficult advice to start preparing for the worst.

Despite the odds, the 93-year-old enthusiastically participated in the week-long celebrations surrounding the wedding in Marbella, Spain.

Rhea Cross, the bride’s granddaughter, fondly described her as the one who brought life and joy to every gathering.  The 27-year-old from East Yorkshire expressed her  joy at having her accompany them throughout the entire trip.

It was particularly unsettling to hear that the doctors had little hope for her survival. It feels so special for her to have seen it. She was truly embracing the moment throughout the entire night.

Rhea mentioned that the wedding guests spent their time in Spain from June 25 to July 3.

“We took every day as an opportunity to have fun.”

Even though Doreen faced challenges with walking long distances, she was still able to dance the night away. In the video below, you can witness her gracefully moving through a lively gathering of loved ones, while confidently belting out tunes on a karaoke stage with a microphone in hand.

There’s this unforgettable photo of Doreen, peacefully dozing off on the beach the day after indulging in a few too many drinks.

After coming back to the UK, Doreen has been taking it easy and spending most of her time at home in Hull.

“It was fantastic. I loved it,” she said.

“My favorite part was watching my granddaughter get married, after being worried I wasn’t going to make it.”
