Skeptical Judges Are Left Speechless as Posh Violinist Shocks with Unforgettable Performance

In 2014, Lettice Rowbotham took Britain’s Got Talent by storm with her extraordinary violin skills. At just 24 and hailing from Surrey, Lettice’s performance was so captivating that she became one of the most unforgettable contestants in the show’s history.

Referred to as the “poshest ever contestant,” Lettice shared a heartfelt story about her lifelong dream of playing the violin. As a child, she was heartbroken when she received a plastic toy violin instead of the real instrument she longed for. Eventually, she got her hands on a genuine violin, setting the stage for her stunning audition on Britain’s Got Talent.

Though Lettice initially seemed unprepared, confessing she had “just listened to the track in the car” and was “too hungover to be nervous,” her performance left no room for doubt. She dazzled the judges with her rendition of three songs: Flo Rida’s Good Feeling, Imagine Dragons’ Demons, and One Republic’s Counting Stars.

Her unique playing style, blending classical technique from her studies at the Royal College of Music with the high-energy pop tunes, won over the audience. By the end of her first song, the crowd was clapping and cheering, and by the time she finished, she had the entire theater on its feet. The judges were equally impressed, with Amanda Holden left in disbelief. David Walliams praised her not only for her talent but for making the violin “look sexy” and putting on a full-fledged show.

Lettice’s performance took her all the way to the BGT Finals, where she placed 8th. Her audition video has since garnered over 91 million views on YouTube.

Since her BGT days, Lettice has performed at venues worldwide, including the Glastonbury Festival and even for Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday. While she continues to wow audiences with her violin, she now balances her musical career with the joys of family life.
