At his heaviest, Broden weighed 284 kilograms. Daily life felt impossible—he was breathless after climbing a single stair, unable to tie his own shoes, and silently suffering from sleep apnea and depression. He avoided mirrors. He avoided life.
Everything changed the day a stranger mistook him for someone twice his age. That moment crushed him—but it also woke something up. Broden made a decision that day: he would not die this way.

With no surgery, no secret pills, and no shortcuts, Broden began the long journey to reclaim his life. He started walking—just five minutes a day. He stopped drinking soda. He learned about portion control and swapped fast food for real, whole meals. Progress was painfully slow, but every kilogram lost gave him power.
Over three years, Broden lost a stunning 142 kilograms. He now runs 5Ks, fits into airline seats, and smiles in the mirror. Most importantly, he’s alive—truly alive.
Today, Broden shares his journey to help others realize what he did: it’s never too late to turn your life around, and you don’t need surgery—you just need strength, commitment, and one decision to start.
