According to indigenous myths, Yakumama is no ordinary anaconda. She is said to reach up to 64 meters in length, with a head over two meters wide. Locals call her the “Mother of Water,” a name rooted in the Quechua words yaku (water) and mama (mother).

Stories passed down for generations claim that Yakumama protects the Amazon’s sacred waters. But what happened when a helicopter pilot dared to fly too low over the forbidden waters? Witnesses say the river suddenly exploded with movement, as if something enormous surged to the surface.
