The Fatal Crash: What Exactly Happened to Diogo Jota 🚗

In the early hours of July 3, 2025, Portuguese and Liverpool superstar Diogo Jota (28) and his brother André Silva (25) were driving on Spain’s A‑52 near Cernadilla when tragedy struck. Their Lamborghini Huracán—en route to Santander on a six-hour drive for Liverpool’s pre-season—experienced a catastrophic tyre blowout while overtaking another vehicle.

At around 12:30 a.m., the luxury car veered off the road, crashed into an embankment, and burst into flames. Emergency responders pronounced both brothers dead at the scene. Investigators believe excessive speed may have worsened the crash after the tyre failed. The horrific blaze left little beyond charred remains, and the Guardia Civil confirmed no other vehicles were involved.

This sudden and devastating accident has sent shockwaves through the football and global sports communities.
