Even though she is only seven years old, Anastasia Tiurina’s ability and joy of performing show as brightly as those of an experienced musician.

Particular attention is paid to the little Russian girl’s performance with the National Academic Orchestra of Russian Folk Instruments. Anastasia plays the Russian balalaika to lead the orchestra in a lively version of Alexander Shalov’s Russian folk song “Valenki.” The balalaika is like a mandolin, but it has three strings instead of two.

Anastasia is still completely engrossed in the music as she skilfully picks at the strings while beaming warm smiles at her several accompanists and the conductor. She seems happy and at ease when she plays, and the way she does so with patience and grace is a good sign for her future as a successful musician.
