Selena Gomez admitted she hasn’t been on the internet in over four years

Selena Gomez is one of the most popular people on social media, but don’t expect her to follow you back. Gomez told Good Morning America on April 4 that she hasn’t used the internet in years and that her health has only improved. “I haven’t gone on the internet in four and a half years,” the star of Only Murders in the Building remarked. “It has completely transformed my life.” I’m happier and more present. I’m making more connections with people. It gives me a sense of normalcy. ”

This may come as a surprise from the fifth most-followed person on Instagram, but the singer admitted three years ago that she didn’t even have Instagram installed on her phone. “I think it’s just grown incredibly harmful,” Gomez remarked in 2019 on Live With Kelly and Ryan. “It was impacting me to spend time fixating on all these remarks and allowing this garbage in.” It would make me unhappy. It would make me feel bad about myself and cause me to look at my body differently.”

Gomez has been candid about her mental health in the past, openly admitting her bipolar diagnosis on Miley Cyrus’ Instagram Live talk program in March 2020.

Gomez’s mental health is not simply being cared for by limiting her internet access. She also sees a therapist and practices dialectical behavior therapy, which is a sort of psychotherapy. “I have a lot of workbooks, like a nerd, but I really like DBT.” I have notebooks that help me with that,” she explained.

As evidenced by her revealing 2020 album, Rare, music is another outlet for her. “I try to turn what’s going on into something beautiful in the greatest way I can,” she explained. “It’s such a safe place for me when I spend moments in a studio and create something from a place of, I don’t know, happiness, sadness, or grief.”

Together with her mother, Mandy Teefey, and Daniella Pierson, she is now using her experiences to establish Wondermind, a platform that will allow users to obtain cheap resources and discuss mental health with one another. “I understand that feeling of not having someone and it’s pure, it’s simply sadness,” she explained. But that’s exactly what we’re attempting here. We aim to create a community and a location where people can feel safe and not alone.”
