Coolio, born Artis Leon Ivey Jr., died on September 28 in Los Angeles, California, at the age of 59. Sheila Finegan, the musician’s talent manager, confirmed the musician’s death. “We are heartbroken by the death of our great friend and customer, Coolio, who died this afternoon,” she stated in a news release. “Thank you to everyone who has listened to his music and who has reached out in response to his death.” Please keep Coolio’s family in your thoughts and prayers. ”
Coolio was born in Monessen, Pennsylvania, and went to Compton, Los Angeles, to attend college. He rose to prominence with his debut album, “It Takes a Thief” in 1994. He then became a solo performer after joining hip-hop groups WC and the Maad Circle. His mid-’90s hip-hop remake of Stevie Wonder’s “Pastime Paradise” catapulted him to international stardom. It was the lead song in the critically acclaimed 1995 film Dangerous Minds, starring Michelle Pfeiffer.
Coolio won a Grammy for Best Solo Rap Performance for the song. Later, at the 1995 Billboard Awards, the artist linked up with Wonder, and their unexpected version of “Gangsta’s Paradise” went down in history.
Later, Coolio introduced hip-hop to Nickelodeon with his brilliant theme song “Aw, Here It Goes!” for the cult series Kenan & Kel. He was also in a lot of movies and TV shows, such as Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Futurama, and Charmed.
The reason for Coolio’s death has yet to be determined. However, the rapper’s manager, Jarez Posey, allegedly told TMZ that paramedics suspected he had suffered a heart attack while visiting a friend’s residence in Los Angeles. He was discovered motionless on his friend’s floor, according to reports.
Fans, friends, and colleagues have been paying respect to the rapper since his death, with Snoop Dogg and Michelle Pfeiffer leading the way. Meanwhile, MC Hammer described Coolio as “one of the finest men I’ve ever met.” Read the heartfelt tributes below.
Coolio, one of my best Rapper of All times passed last night. Who will ever forget that epic and iconic performance of Gangstar paradise at the 1995 Billboard Music Awards, when he collaborated with Stevie Wonder. That was the best live performance for me ever. RIP Coolio

RIP Coolio. Never forget his appearance on Irish daytime chatshow Open House, who, legend has it, booked him by mistake. They hadn’t arranged backing dancers, so he made the middle-age production crew dress up and do it instead. Best TV ever. pic.twitter.com/gVxehs4rlt

RIP Coolio, whose one massive hit overshadowed a formidable run of classic West Coast bangers. An original member of the Maad Circle & Compton representative – with an undeniable star quality, humor, charisma, and a gift for making street tales mainstream without sanitizing them pic.twitter.com/DEyMqEOJfs
