Deputy Eric Alligood went to a house a few weeks ago where a woman was having a very difficult day, according to the GCSO.
She expressed her gratitude to the cops who had come to her residence, particularly Deputy Alligood. She recounted how he knew that all she needed at the time was someone to listen and care. She admired his bravery in momentarily putting aside his position as a deputy to be a genuinely nice person. The woman expressed her gratitude for his hug and underlined the need for more people like him in the world.

She wanted her thanks to be passed on as a reminder that just because someone wears a uniform does not make them a nice person. Instead, it is the actual demonstration of caring and compassion that is important. She praised Deputy Alligood for his ability to be vulnerable and open while on duty, which she considered as a testament to his actual strength and character. She argued that this episode demonstrated that, despite their professional roles, police personnel are human people with feelings.
A month later, the woman’s ongoing thoughts about Deputy Alligood’s random act of kindness proved that a tiny act of kindness and compassion may have a significant impact on someone’s entire life.
The GCSO praised Deputy Alligood for his thoughtful gesture, saying he had made the entire agency proud.
