Hey guys, it’s Eric here and this is a full comparison video between the TECNO Spark 4 and the Infinix Hot 8. We’d start off with the Speed Test, followed by the camera comparison.

Hopefully this video helps you decide which to buy between them. Both of these have the exact camera configurations, same processors, storage and RAM but we’re going to find out if their real life usage differs. Let’s begin with the boot up test Hot 8 booted up first in 29 seconds with the Spark 4 coming in less than a second later. 

Again remember this isn’t a scientific test so be sure to get to the end for my conclusion. Now I tested the fingerprint sensor on both a couple of times and 3 out of 4 attempts, the Spark 4 unlocked a little faster. For perspective both of these aren’t the fastest fingerprint in the world. For the speed test, I closed all the running apps before this test. Let’s begin with twitter. Instagram. Facebook. Snapchat. Playstore. 

Youtube. GeekbenchWe’re not able to run geek bench on both of these for some reason, Moving on.Antutu benchmarks. We get slightly higher Antutu scores on the Hot 8 Skipping the games row for now. Snapseed. Camera. Messages. Settings. Speed test. Tested both on the same terribly slow network and I don’t think it tells the full story. 

We get higher download speeds on the Hot 8 and Higher Upload speeds on the Spark 4 Lightroom. And now let’s open up some games, let’s begin with…Smash hit. PUBG. Subway surf. Temple Run 2. Now let’s quickly look at some shots taken on both. 

Both these selfies look pretty decent, the exposure levels of the Hot 8 is better and when we take a closer look, you can see that it is captures more detailed. Using portrait mode with the selfie camera, you get similar bokeh effect and looking at the ears and sides, the AI face mapping errors are about the same on both. Still not bad.

Using the primary camera, the Spark 4 is doing a much better job focusing on the subject and background while the Hot 8 only focuses on the subject. Looking at the subject alone, they look nearly 100% identical. Using portrait mode for the back camera, the depth sensing is pretty good and they both map your face much better than their selfie cameras performed. 

Still on the primary camera, Hot 8 manages exposure levels better and though the sun isn’t on the right side of this photo, you can still see that the dynamic range is also better on the Hot 8.Greens look similar on both. Indoors, selfies look about the same, primary camera doesn’t differ too much either. 

These were taken with the primary cameraThe funny thing is that the Spark 4 managed to take better shots with its dual flash than the Hot 8 actually did with it’s Quad Flash. It does seem like both cameras struggle when the lighting is less than ideal. 

Now in real life usage, though the selfie camera of the Hot 8 is noticeably better, they’re both not delivering the quality that would make selfie lovers consider them. The difference in both their primary cameras as well as speed, aesthetics and even the software experience is somewhat negligible. The battery on the Hot 8 is pretty huge. 

That being said, the Spark 4 is still a battery beast and will get the average user through a full day of heavy use so if you are always close to a power source, you may not benefit from the extra 1000mAh battery on the Hot 8. What may be more important to you if you’re a Glo user, is the Glo 4G LTE band 28 support which only the Spark 4 offers and the fact that you also pay slightly less for it.
