Erling Kindem recently celebrated his 90th birthday with family, friends, and a special guest, Emmett Rychner, his four-year-old friend. They used to be neighbors, and their friendship blossomed after Emmett noticed the WWII veteran growing tomatoes and inquired about it. Their story touched so many people who saw a news video last year that the newscaster has kept in touch with their friends.

The two friends appear to have maintained contact even after Emmett’s family relocated. So, when it came time to celebrate Erling’s birthday, Emmett couldn’t help but drop by!
