An 8-year-old Danish boy speaks 32 languages. This is how long it took him to learn each one

Ankier Norgaard, a 8 Danish kid, is without a doubt one of the world’s smartest youngsters. Norgaard is proficient in thirty-one languages, and he just became the youngest child to learn thirty-two languages when he added Chinese to his repertory. And all in under three days!

Afrikaans, Arabic, Bengali, Danish, Dutch, English, Flemish, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malaysian, Chinese, Maori, Norwegian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Punjabi, Swahili, Swedish, Urdu, Vietnamese, Yiddish, Zulu, and Quechua are among the languages he has learned.

«I can’t describe it; it just happens to me,» he stated. «It took me two weeks to learn Arabic, and it took me 7 weeks to learn Swahili.» When it comes to languages, I suppose I’m acquiring them rapidly. There isn’t much of a distinction between the languages. «Once you know a dozen words, the others flow naturally,» he said.

The University of Copenhagen just offered the young genius a scholarship.

But his parents, who are both psychologists, are worried that sending a kid to college at such a young age may harm his social development.

«We know our kid has a talent,» Ankier’s mother, Frida Muller, continues, «but we want to live a regular life.» We don’t need a «circus freak,» and we don’t want others to use him for their own gain. For the time being, we would prefer that he remain at home, where he and his gift may continue to flourish and develop. Perhaps in a few years, we will reconsider. »
