Jade’s wealth continued to increase for many years. It had grown to $120,000 at the end of 11 years, and Caleb was just a few months away from finishing high school at the time.

«What nonsense!» «I told you I’d never be married!»

Jade had hoped to see her son enroll at the institution of his choosing, but destiny had other ideas. She was killed in a tragic car accident on her way home one night and died before reaching the hospital. Caleb and Arthur both made funeral arrangements for Mom and said her farewell.

Caleb chose to check Jade’s fund that day since he required money to pay for his education. Everyone in their family was aware that Jade kept all of her money in her cabinet drawer rather than in a bank, so he knew just where to search.

When Caleb unlocked the bedroom door, he found his father was not there. Arthur spent less time at home after Jade died, and he would occasionally escape for many days at a time to his friends’ homes. His pals often scooped him up since he was still in a wheelchair. Caleb never messed with Arthur’s life after Jade passed because he believed his father needed time and space to mourn.

Caleb decided to check the cash while his father was away and alert him later, but when he opened the drawer, there was nothing inside! It was completely empty! «What happened to all the money?» I’m sure Mom saved it!»

Caleb searched the whole cabinet as well as every corner and crevice of his parents’ room, but he couldn’t locate the money. He assumed Arthur had it someplace else and waited for him to get home.

«But I’m not sure where the money is, Caleb!» his father said. «Are you certain it isn’t there?»

«No, dad! It isn’t! » Caleb sobbed.

«Then I’ll check with the bank.» «Perhaps your mom put the money away without notifying us,» he said.

Caleb sensed something strange but couldn’t understand. «How come Dad is so calm when the money is gone?» he asked.

Caleb decided to check his phone the following day when Arthur was in the restroom. Caleb accessed Arthur’s phone quickly since it didn’t have a lock. He began reviewing his father’s emails but found nothing relevant. Then he reviewed his messages, and the truth was exposed, startling Caleb.

His father had two families! He had another kid and a girlfriend, which is why he was occasionally absent from the house! He lied to the lady called Linda in the texts, stating he worked in another state and couldn’t spend time with her. And he’d transferred Jade’s funds to Linda’s account!

Caleb instantly screenshotted all of the texts and sent them to himself. Fortunately, Linda’s address appeared in one of the texts, so he went to meet her and get HIS money back!

«Yes, how may I assist you?» Linda inquired as she opened the door.

«How does it feel, Miss Linda, to have $120,000 in your account?» «Your guy is doing an amazing job, I must say!» He showed Linda his phone and explained everything, even how Jade had saved the money for him.

«Is Arthur your father?» «I had no idea he had another family!» she said. «And I had no idea your mum saved so much money!»

«Stop acting!» «Please understand that I am not an idiot.»

«I swear, Caleb! Listen, your father is scheduled to meet with me next week. » Linda summoned Caleb to her home the next week, on the day Arthur was meant to arrive, and told him she’d put up a secret surveillance camera to capture him. Caleb didn’t want to trust her, but his instinct tells him he should.

«But if I discover you were involved in this jointly, I’ll report you to the police!» he said.

«Believe me! I’m not making this up! » Linda said emphatically.

When Arthur saw Linda the next week, she informed him she wanted a divorce since he had kept her in the dark and taken his son’s money!

«What nonsense!» «I told you I’d never be married!» He started to make up a tale, but as Caleb stepped in front of him, his real colors were shown.

Caleb called the police and handed them the proof. Arthur was not only captured and brought into police custody, but he also lost his son for good.

Caleb, on the other hand, apologized to Linda and began to trust her. Linda and her daughter, Hailey, eventually became his family, and Linda legally adopted Caleb.

Caleb, on the other hand, booted Arthur out of the home, and he ended up on the streets. Fortunately, Jade’s role as breadwinner paid off since the home was in her name and she had left it to Caleb in her will.
