On their 31st wedding anniversary, Rob Lowe opens up about his feelings for his wife—she raised him from his low point in the ’90s and “made his world.”

Rob Lowe was a gambler until he met the woman who transformed his life and rescued him when he was at his lowest point. The couple recently celebrated another anniversary, which piqued people’s interest in the mystery of their long-lasting romance.

Rob Lowe is now happily married, but he was formerly involved with Melissa Gilbert. They began dating when she was 17, and she fell “hopelessly and naively” in love with him on their first date.

From that first date, the couple became a relationship, and Lowe became the focus of her existence. However, the affair did not work out since Gilbert was not his soulmate.

Lowe proposed to her in 1986, despite the fact that they had both been unfaithful to one another. Everything came to an end when she found she was pregnant. Lowe had not taken the news well, telling her that he was not ready to be a parent or a husband.

He was a crazy one.

Lowe was a wild card when he was younger. He was renowned for being a party animal, and the actor once acknowledged living a “wild” and “fun” life in his twenties. At the age of 26, he struck rock bottom when he arrived home late after a night of wild partying to find a message from his grandmother on his answering machine.

It indicated his grandfather was having heart problems and urged him to pick up the phone or call back. Lowe met Sheryl, a well-known cosmetics artist, who made him feel visible for the first time in his life.

He had been unstable and wanting someone to assist him before she came along, so when she came along and accomplished that, he felt forever thankful that she gave him the benefit of the doubt despite all of his flaws.

According to the actor, Sheryl recognized things in him that others did not, which made him pay attention. The couple met on a blind date in 1983, but their love connection didn’t begin until 1989, when they reconnected on the set of the actor’s thriller “Bad Influence.” In a previous interview, he stated this about her:

“Listen, she could have saved my life.”

He thought she was worth adjusting his wild boy habits for. “And simply as I met her, I realized that if I couldn’t make it work with her, I couldn’t make it work with anybody else,” he says.

Lowe had been seeking a family of his own and a normal life outside of Hollywood, but he needed the right lady. He was lucky that Sheryl was waiting for him, and she and he were able to make his dreams come true.

For her, he became sober.

Lowe married Sheryl on July 22, 1991, and their first child, Matthew, was born in 1993. They added to their family once more in 1995, when they had their second son, John Owen.

In 2019, the actor told Gwyneth Paltrow on her Goopfellas podcast that marriage is all about “who you chose.” He then offered some advice that he was fortunate to find appropriate to his relationship: “marry your best friend.”

Lowe later said that being a father was a great experience and that he had always wanted to have kids.

Aside from making him a more grounded family guy, Lowe credits Sheryl with helping him overcome his addictions. He was knee-deep in numerous addictive drugs before she came along, but as soon as they became a couple, he decided they all had to leave.

The actor realized that his drug and alcohol addiction might jeopardize his relationship with Sheryl, so he checked himself into treatment and made a commitment to recovery. He and Sheryl married shortly after the therapy.

They have been married for three decades.

He also described her as a “wonderful mother” and said that he felt “extremely privileged” to have spent three decades with her. The adoring father and his wife just celebrated their 31st wedding anniversary, and their love for one another is palpable.

He posted a black and white photo of her making a gorgeous pose on Instagram to remember the occasion. The pleased spouse wished her a happy anniversary in his post before penning a couple of corny comments that warmed many hearts. The first sentence was as follows:

“Your love has changed my life.”

“You are as gorgeous, educated, interesting, compassionate, and humorous as you were so many blissful years ago,” it continued. lifetime loving partners!! ”

When asked what has kept his marriage with Sheryl going for so long in Hollywood, where stars are known to divorce every ten years, Lowe answers that the easy prescription is to marry “your best friend.”
