Esther and Ezekiel Mutesasira from Uganda wowed both the audience and the judges during Season 3 of Canada’s Got Talent.
Esther, 17, and Ezekiel, 13, claimed they’ve been singing together since they were kids, thanks to their mom, who said she had to escape Uganda.
Ezekiel said that he had to live without his mother for 5 years, which was very hard for him as a child. Now that they are in Canada, the couple is hoping to win the prestigious CGT 2022 award, which seems likely based on their audition.
Despite having no professional musical training, the brothers and sisters seem to have music in their blood since they can shout out Pop, R&B, afro-fusion, and gospel songs.
The Ugandan singing duo is no stranger to talent shows. In October 2019, they won the first season of East Africa’s Got Talent.
The crowd and judges were caught surprised by Ezekiel’s strong voice and vast range when they performed a version of Jordin Sparks’ “No Air.”
After obtaining four yeses from all four judges, the siblings moved to the next stage; their delighted mother, Julie Mutesasira, was present at the auditions.
