There has been much discussion regarding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s move to California, and the royal family’s general reaction has been displeasure. According to a family friend, the late Princess Diana is the only person who would have approved. Here are some of the reasons why a former royal staffer believes Princess Diana would welcome Harry and Meghan’s move to the United States.
Princess Diana passed away in August 1997, but Harry has often talked about keeping his mother’s legacy alive. According to royal expert Stewart Pearce, who previously worked as Diana’s voice coach, Harry is doing just that by taking the reins of his life.
“I feel she would be overjoyed [with both boys] because that was her nature.” “She wasn’t depressed,” Pearce told Us Weekly on June 15 in an interview. “She was a person who enjoyed life’s levity, who enjoyed developing through life.”
Pearce continued to explain how Harry followed in Diana’s footsteps by relocating to Southern California. “She was talking about buying a property in Malibu [saying] that would be’ really amazing ‘for the boys to have freedom to surf,” Pearce told the magazine. “Because they’re both really sporty, you know, but they could surf, roller skate, and Frisbee.” So she’d be completely in her favor.

It wasn’t the first time Diana had been referenced in an interview recently. During the AppleTV+ docuseries The Me You Can’t See with Oprah Winfrey, Harry also discussed his mother. The Duke called Meghan’s encounter with ugly tabloid accusations “history repeating itself.”
“My biggest regret is not taking a stronger stand earlier in my marriage with my wife and calling out racism when I did,” he said. “The past was repeating itself.”
He recalled his mother’s encounters with the press and her struggle for liberty. “My mother was chased to her death because she was in a relationship with someone who wasn’t white, and look what happened now.” “They’re not going to stop until [Meghan] dies,” he continued, referring to history repeating itself again.

It was not an easy decision for Harry and Meghan to step aside from their royal positions and begin a new life, but Diana would have been pleased with them for taking the path less traveled.
