“You’ve abused me for too long”:longtime Amazon driver

A driver for Amazon has said he wants to quit because he always has to finish other drivers’ shifts and has never been given a raise.

Mitchell Resing (@707mitchell) posted a TikTok video outlining his dissatisfaction with Amazon after working there for over four years. As of Thursday, the video had had approximately 166,000 views.

Resing states in the video that he started his most recent shift at 9 a.m. and didn’t leave until 4 a.m. the next day, when he recorded the TikTok. He claims that after completing his allotted shift and delivering his quota of parcels, he must pick up other drivers’ unfinished business. He believes that drivers contracted by Amazon through a third party have been departing on a regular basis, leaving extra work for drivers like him to pick up.

Resing claims he has been an Amazon driver since February 2018, but has yet to get a raise. He’s sought to switch to Amazon’s dispatch center, but his managers won’t let him. He claims that they want him to be a driver since he is skilled at it.

The TikToker warns others not to work for Amazon. He describes the job as “pleasing” when he started in 2018 because there was enough help and enough time to do deliveries while also taking a break. Resing claims that his shifts now comprise enough labor for two or more workers. He reveals that drivers pick up 600 items on approximately 400 stops.

Resing claims that as a delivery driver, Amazon provided him with a business cell phone that includes Amazon Flex, the program used to deliver parcels. He claims that if drivers do not complete their delivery routes as quickly as other drivers, the app will boot them out after 12 hours. Resing says that Amazon’s dispatch service sent his work assignments to his cell phone and also asked him to log out of the app.

He couldn’t log back into the app the next day, he claims, and he wasn’t paid the overtime he was due the last time they asked him to work an extra six hours.

I have to go back to work in five hours and repeat this nonsense, but you know what? Resing says in the video, “No.” “Enough is enough. Amazon, I’m not doing this anymore. You’ve been abusing me for far too long. I’m not going to put up with it any longer. ”

He says that the company wants to keep him in his current job, where he is overworked and not moved up.

“Amazon, pay your workers, give us a decent wage, give us fair hours,” Resing says in his appeal to the firm. “Please stop abusing us in this manner. You’ll end up with no employees and no fucking business. ”

Resing adds at the end of his video that he’s weary of having to miss breaks and “piss in bottles” for a job that doesn’t even help him make ends meet.

TikTok users congratulated Resing on quitting his job and assured him that he would find work somewhere with a more gratifying business.

“Do not return! They don’t deserve employees! “said one spectator.

“Keep your head up. I’m glad you’re speaking out. They are unworthy of you!” another person commented.

Several viewers suggested that Amazon employees unionize, while others questioned the legitimacy of what Resing believes Amazon is doing.

“Yeah, that’s illegal,” one user commented.

“DOT infraction.” PERIOD! “, remarked another person.

According to the Department of Transportation’s website, property-carrying drivers are not permitted to drive for more than 11 consecutive hours. These drivers must also take a 30-minute break after driving for eight hours straight.

Other Amazon employees commented on Resing’s video, saying they were “overworked.”

“I worked at the Amazon warehouse.” I understand what you mean. After three years, I [resigned]. “They’ll work you to the bone (at the warehouse),” remarked one viewer.

I work for Amazon, and the stuff we’re compelled to do is simply insane. I’m booked for four days a week, but my manager told us we had to come,” said another.

The Daily Dot contacted the creator via TikTok and Amazon via email.
