Rapper Kanye West said he’s never read a book

Kanye West, the rapper, has stated that he has never read a book and prefers to communicate instead.

On Friday’s episode of Alo Yoga’s “Alo Mind Full” podcast, West said that he prefers a “good conversation” to “good talk.”

“I haven’t read a single book,” West admitted.

“For me, reading is like eating Brussels sprouts,” West remarked. “And chatting is the equivalent of receiving the Giorgio Baldi corn ravioli.”

West was talking about a famous spaghetti dish at Giorgi Baldi, a restaurant in Santa Monica where he and his ex-girlfriend Kim Kardashian had eaten before.

West stated on the show that he only reads the first and last phrases of long text messages. He was also frustrated by the expectation that he must speak excellent English in order to be appreciated.

“The idea of having to speak right English, like, even if you know what I’m saying, you’re not going to accept what I’m saying unless I’m speaking correct English,” West explained.

He likened having his speech corrected to getting pulled over and subjected to an “alcohol test.”

West also discussed Donda Academy, the private school he established and named for his late mother. According to its website, the school educates children from pre-K through twelfth grade in language arts, math, and science, as well as enrichment classes such as “world language, visual art, film, choir, and parkour.”

West stated in the podcast interview that “conventional curricula” must be balanced with various forms of learning.

“We have to strike a balance with curriculums that promote self-confidence,” West added. “Because so many schools and modern indoctrinations undermine the trust that these future leaders will have in themselves.”

His remarks regarding reading and his school’s curriculum come just one day after Rolling Stone published an article about Donda Academy. According to two reports, it is unknown who teaches at the school and who sends their children there. According to the outlet, families are being asked to sign nondisclosure agreements.
