When the cashier treated the veteran disrespectfully, the homeless man stepped in to assist him. Before leaving the shop, the manager questioned the guy why he helped the old veteran, and his response moved the manager to tears.
Karl was on the street. He asked for charity, received meals, and slept in alleyways or wherever he might find a bed. Karl did not have the necessities of life, including a house, but he had a good heart, which encouraged us to share this story with you.
Karl went food shopping on a sweltering July afternoon. He was hungry, so he decided to spend the money he had earned from begging in the morning on food.
Karl browsed the store shelves and bought an orange drink and a packet of inexpensive crackers. He then waited in line in front of the cashier to pay the bill.
He heard two people talking and peered out the window to see an older man standing at the till.

Karl noticed the clerk yelling at the elderly man. “Are you serious?” she said. Are you counting those coins one by one? This will take you forever, man! You need to start moving! ”
Oh, it won’t be too long. I… I apologize. “I’ll make it quick,” the old man said, his hands trembling as he counted money. The cashier had already bagged the products and was waiting for the man to pay with bated breath. Simultaneously, she kept interrupting him and knocking on the counter to ask him to hurry up.
She lost her patience when she noticed the man was not in a hurry to count the cash. Why have you come here if you can’t pay? You don’t have anything? “Not even a card?”
Miss, I’m a veteran. Don’t you believe I should be addressed with greater respect and consideration? I never said I wouldn’t pay! ” He answered stubbornly, which irritated her even more. While everyone else in line was waiting eagerly for their turn, no one helped the old veteran.

A guy approached the veteran and came to his rescue when he noticed that he was in trouble. Karl was the gentleman in question.
“I will assist you, sir,” he replied, as he proceeded to count the man’s money.
The cashier interrupted them once more. Why are you assisting him? It’s his fault that he only brought about change! Not to mention that a coarse man like you can’t help himself, and you’re going to help him? “mocked she.
Karl remained silent.
All right, sir. “Fifty-two dollars!” he shouted when he completed counting.
“And I’ve got another fifty dollars,” the old guy said. The total now stands at $112. Here you are, Miss… “he said, arranging the money in two rows on the counter. However, there was a lack of funding.
“And here’s another four dollars!” the guy yelled, pointing to the message. Wait a minute! What’s the deal with you? You’ve kept everyone waiting, and now you’re $4 short! ”

Karl finally spoke up. You don’t have to yell at him. Here’s four bucks for you! ” He tossed two two-dollar bills onto the counter.
Take the money and apologize! Do you realize he mentioned he was a veteran, ma’am? He previously served our nation selflessly, and now you’re criticizing him? People like you are not fit to be called human! ”
It makes no difference. Now, if you’re finished, leave! ” The cashier received the cash and told them to go.
I’m not going to let you get away with it. “Your employer should know!” Karl told her.
The old man’s eyes filled with tears as he watched Karl treat him with kindness.
How do I address you, son? “My name is Simon,” he introduced himself.
Sir, my name is Karl. “I’m homeless,” he declared emphatically, “but I still live better than most of the people here who have money! “I can assist you in carrying your food outside, sir,” he offered.

Simon said he could handle it, but when Karl persisted, he gave up. But, before he could assist the veteran, Karl returned the products he had taken to the shelf, knowing he would not be able to get them again.
They were ready to go when a man dressed in a suit approached them. The sign with his name on it said, “Joseph Smith. General Manager.”
Mr. Smith stood off to the side, observing everything that was going on. He contacted Karl after the issue had been handled and asked him why he had assisted Simon. “…Why did you do it? “he wondered.
“Sir, why not?” — Karl said, “I’ve had a rough existence on the streets, and most people avoid or completely ignore me. You can see I’m in bad shape. However, there have been several situations when people have been gracious to me. I know that doing good always returns to you in some way. So I couldn’t stand it if someone rejected me like that! ”
Mr. Smith grinned. “Would you like to work at my shop?” he said of Karl, as if he hadn’t heard anything he had said previously. “I’m going to need to recruit a shop steward.”
Karl’s eyes began to well up. “What, I—I’m not sure, sir.” Are you… Are you sure? ”

“You could start today if you want!” Mr. Smith said. «So, sir… What is your name?
Karl, sir… I’m not sure how to express my gratitude, but thank you! Sir, thank you very much. I’ll give it my all. ”
“I know, Karl,” said Mr. Smith thoughtfully. I’d like to hire someone who is committed to doing good. People like you are hard to come by these days.
Karl couldn’t believe how wonderfully everything had turned out. He began his day as a homeless guy and concluded it as a well-paid shop steward. He thanked Mr. Smith and promised to work hard. The cashier, on the other hand, was fired for insulting Simon. Arrogance, in the end, is never a justification for anything.
