Hayley Badenhop and Owen Leeper skied down the aisle.
Hayley Badenhop married Owen Leeper on April 3, 2022.
They skied in their wedding gown after leaving their ceremony at the top of the mountain.
As she descended the mountain, Badenhop fitted their skis and handed her bouquet.
Hayley Badenhop had always wanted to marry at the top of a mountain.

Badenhop, 35, is a full-time muralist in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, where she met Owen Leeper, 37, a professional skier.
Badenhop and Leeper met at a volleyball game in 2018 and quickly became friends before falling in love.
“I’m from Ohio, from a flat farm in Ohio,” Badenhope explained to Insider. “I relocated to Aspen after graduation, and we’ve now been in Jackson for ten years.”
“When I got to the mountains, I thought, ‘Oh my God, this would be such a cool place to get married,'” she explained. “I’ve always wanted a mountaintop wedding, but I never knew how to plan one or whether it was even possible.”
After Leeper proposed in 2021, the couple began to consider how they could make their wedding reflect them.

Although they were engaged in September 2021, Badenhop and Leeper did not begin planning their April 3, 2022 wedding until January of the following year.
They decided to marry during the final week of the ski season at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, where Leeper is a sponsored skier.
It only seemed right for Badenhop and Leeper to leave the wedding skiing after saying their vows on the snow-covered mountain top.
Leeper and Badenhop exchanged intimate vows on a mountain top.

Badenhop, Leeper, and their 75 guests took a ski tram to the ceremony location, which Badenhop described as “hit or miss” in terms of weather.
“The location of the event is very windy,” Badenhop explained. “It’s quite unpredictable.”
Badenhop expressed concern that the weather would disrupt their wedding, but they were fortunate.
“It was the most wonderful day of the season, and then the next day, it was chilly and windy, and they shut down the tram, which was what transported over passengers to the top,” she explained.
The ceremony was officiated by Brian Hunter.
Badenhop donned a clothing that allowed her to ski easily.

Although she now works as a muralist, Badenhop attended fashion school and intended to work in bridal early in her career, according to Insider. Because of her history, she knew exactly what style of wedding gown she wanted to wear.
She eventually purchased a strapless gown from Bon Bride online. The outfit costs £2,750.00 (about $3,362.23).
Badenhop was able to put on ski boots thanks to the floor-length dress’s thigh-high cut.
The dress had no back and was only held up by the sleeves.

The dress is held up by elastic inside the sleeves, and Badenhop used fashion tape to keep it in place.
The dress also had a puddle train in the back, which Badenhop said could be bustled with buttons in the rear to make skiing easier.
She accessorized the romantic and gravity-defying gown with an ASOS waist-length veil. Badenhop also kept warm by wearing a fur jacket from Selfie Leslie on her way to the ceremony.
The look was completed with an updo by Jaclyn Harmon of Frost Salon and a dewy makeup look by Abbey Hewes.
Badenhop accessorized the outfit with a “Leeper” back chain.

Glamrocks Jewelry created a unique choker with the word “Leeper” on the back chain for Badenhop.
It offered a personal touch as well as a modern twist to the romantic gown.
Badenhop finished off her bridal ensemble with white boots.

The Betsey Johnson boots added a winter mood to the garment and made strolling around the mountain venue more manageable.
Badenhop also wore Charlotte Stone shoes throughout the day.
Badenhop designed handmade wedding skis for herself and Leeper.

Badenhop wanted the wedding to have a stylish air because they planned to integrate skiing.
“I just didn’t want it to be like any other day because we ski every day,” she explained. “I wanted it to feel exceptional and as if it had been put together really carefully.”
Badenhop accomplished this by adapting her and Leeper’s skis for the event.
She wrapped her skis in white vinyl and Leeper’s in black vinyl, then painted “bride” and “groom” on them.
She also created the invitations.
She also made certain that her ski boots complemented her bridal ensemble.

Because Badenhop’s ski boots are blue, she pondered wearing them as her “something blue” to the wedding.
She eventually decided that white would look better, so she spray-painted an old pair of her boots.
Leeper’s boots were already black, so they went perfectly with his black tuxedo.
Badenhop and Leeper added skis to their wedding outfits immediately after the ceremony.

Badenhop also spray-painted her poles to match her bridal look.
Leeper wore a Theory ensemble with a tie designed by Badenhop and Ponto Footwear shoes.
Many of the couple’s guests skied with them.

According to Badenhop, roughly 20 of their 75 visitors joined them in their skiing exit.
“We didn’t know whether anyone was going to come ski with us,” she explained, “and then a number of folks simply showed up with their skis that day.”
The rest of their guests rode the tram down to Teton Village, where Badenhop had set up an après-ski buffet of champagne and charcuterie.
Skiing with her husband was “so much joy,” Badenhop remarked.

Elise Sterck, the couple’s wedding photographer, skied down with them, capturing their once-in-a-lifetime descent down the mountain.
“During the winter, she shoots a lot of Owen’s shots whether he’s going out for a big day or jumping off cliffs,” Badenhop said of Sterck. “I’ve always admired her editing skills and the shots she gets, so I knew she’d capture some killer shots.”
“We were just smiling the whole time,” Badenhop and Leeper remarked as they skied.

As if skiing in a dress wasn’t difficult enough, Badenhop took her bouquet of dried flowers from Decor Flower Bar with her as she and Leeper made their way down the mountain. Fern & Sunpalm flowers were also used in the wedding.
Badenhop shared a TikTok video showing herself and Leeper skiing, as well as other TikToks from their wedding day. As of Friday, Leeper’s video has received over 5 million views.
As they finished skiing, Badenhop and Leeper looked ecstatic.

Non-skiing guests may also throw flower petals towards Badenhop and Leeper as they approached the bottom of the mountain.
Following the couple’s grand entry, the newlyweds and their guests proceeded to their reception at The Wort Hotel in Jackson. At the event, DJ Marco Flexx provided entertainment.
Lindsey Johnson made their personalized cake, and Persephone Bakery supplied the extra treats.
Badenhop believes her and Leeper’s wedding was memorable because it was individualized.

“The one thing I was trying to avoid the most was having a cookie-cutter wedding,” Badenhop explained. “And I think the coolest part of a wedding and the most memorable portions are when you put in these elements that are tiny tales about your lives and doing that in a way that’s significant to you.”
She urges other couples planning adventurous weddings to include similar personal touches, since it will help guests connect with them more.
Although the skiing was enjoyable, Badenhop stated that her favorite aspect of her wedding day was the ceremony.

For Leeper, skiing with his bride was the highlight of the wedding day, but for Badenhop, the ceremony stood out.
“Walking down the snow-plowed aisle with music playing and seeing everybody standing there in a perfectly sunny day and Owens standing there smiling, it was such a cool moment to do something like that,” she said. “It was very surreal.”
She and Leeper promised their lives to each other with personal vows, which was Badenhop’s idea. She surprised herself by crying throughout the ceremony.
They exchanged rings from JC Jewelers.
Badenhop said she loves the sense of adventure Leeper brings to her life.

“My favorite thing about him is the sense of adventure he gives to the relationship,” she told Insider. “He also gives me a lot of laughs.”
“He’s always calm and has an experience planned for us every day.” “If I let him, he’d have something for us to do every day,” she added. “His approach of showing love is to have us do significant things together.” That’s something I admire about him.”
