Some of the best impromptu musical performances I’ve seen recently have taken place in guitar shops or even Walmart, when performers simply pick up a guitar and start playing. Bob Wood, 81, walks into the British Audio Service guitar shop in Nashville and selects one of the guitars on the rack to try out. And what a surprise!

The video, which was shot last year, has since gone viral. Bob, it turns out, is not unfamiliar with music. He was a regular performer at Jamboree USA in Wheeling, West Virginia, and has released several albums over the course of his career. He was inducted into the Southern Legends Country Music Hall of Fame in 2007.

Bob’s fingers on the guitar strings appear to be quite agile!
