Willie Nelson fights back tears as his friends pay tribute to him to the tune of ‘Seven Spanish Angels.’

Willie Nelson isn’t known for wearing suits and ties. The country and western legend is frequently seen in public and on stage dressed in ‘regular’ blue jeans and a t-shirt.

Yet his new, darker visage had a very good reason.

Nelson made the trip to Washington, D.C. to attend the Gershwin Prize presentation.

Willie Nelson, this year’s winner, adds the Gershwin Prize for Popular Song to his already impressive list of accolades.

The celebration will include more than just the award presentation. Artists and other celebrities pay their respects to the honored guest.

Numerous celebrities took the opportunity to express their gratitude to Nelson. The performance of ‘Seven Spanish Angels,’ which moved Nelson to tears, was unquestionably the highlight of the evening.

Alison Krauss and Jamey Johnson, two of Nelson’s friends and fellow musicians, performed his timeless anthem. Nelson was filled with emotion while watching the performance.

A duet between Nelson and Ray Charles popularized the tune.

The two recorded and released this song for the first time in 1984.

Because this was Charles’s biggest country chart hit, it made headlines.

Nelson’s reported battles with the IRS over the years have sadly resulted in only distressing and embarrassing headlines.

Fortunately, his former audience has moved on from his controversies, and the media no longer focuses on his tax issues.

Nelson’s accomplishments keep him in the spotlight. Willie Nelson has not only been rewarded for his contributions to the entertainment business but he has also been upgraded to the next level of his Tae Kwon Do black belt.

Even though he is no longer on the road as regularly as he once was, the motivational superstar enjoys staying active.

I was curious if you had any views on the show. Have you ever been so moved by someone’s acts that you couldn’t stop crying?
