Shawn Johnson is an American gymnast who won the Olympic gold medal in beam exercises in 2008, as well as silver medals in the absolute championship, floor exercise, and team competitions. She was also the absolute world champion in 2007 and the absolute champion of the United States in 2007 and 2008. In 2009, she won the eighth season of the American television show Dancing with the Stars.

Throughout 2008, Johnson led a more balanced life, which is unusual for elite-level gymnasts. She was only allowed to train for 25 hours per week, rather than the usual 40. Furthermore, unlike many of her competitors, she attended a free public school. Sean was an honors student who participated in football games and other extracurricular activities.
