«He says stuff like, ‘You’re a part of me, and I’ll never let anything horrible happen to you,'” revealed the mother.

The desire to have a younger brother or sister might occasionally persuade other parents to have a child. But what happens if they are unable to?

Mikey Marotta already knows what kind of gift he wants if Santa asks.
It’s not a video game console, phone, or toy car. According to his parents, Mikey would most likely want a baby brother.

A sibling is exciting news for any child.
While some youngsters may be envious of the attention, the vast majority of children accept the responsibilities of being an elder guardian wholeheartedly.

Mikey was so excited to be an older brother that he planned ahead of time what they’d dress up as for Halloween. Whenever he got something new or an extra of something, he would put it aside and “save” it for his brother.

He even told his mother that eating buffalo wings was the root of his ginger hair. He also desires that his brother be the same hue as him this time.

Getting pregnant, on the other hand, was not easy.
Jessica and Michael Marotta went above and above to make Mikey’s dreams come true. Their efforts were impeded, however, by fertility concerns. The most difficult part was Jessica’s miscarriage in 2007.

When they realized their efforts were futile, they decided to meet with Mikey. They explained to him during one of those heart-to-heart talks that it’s perfectly fine to be a family of three.

“When Mikey asked when he was going to get his baby brother, we told him that he might not get one because some families only have one child, which is fine.” He’d cry and say, ‘That’s okay if I don’t get a human sibling; I have Dillinger,’ our dog.” Jessica stated TODAY.

But everything changed in the summer of 2017.
Jessica discovered she was pregnant. However, one individual is far more ecstatic than both Jessica and Michael. Mikey, according to Jessica, “teared up and was very happy.” However, the family encountered further challenges.

The baby was found to be suffering from intrauterine growth restriction. A C-section was required to deliver the baby. Mikey then spent his days in the NICU.

They were able to explain the significance of skin-to-skin contact there.
Jessica used to hold Mikey against her skin when he was younger, so she understands how powerful this can be. So when Mikey was finally allowed to hug his brother, he was overcome with emotion.

Every so carefully, Mikey would hold Jake close to his heart. He knew he had the capability to be a big brother and now that he really needed to show that side of himself, Mikey was more than willing.

The two only grew closer since then.
Jessica shared that whenever his little brother would hear his voice, he would turn his head in Mikey’s direction and look for him. Mikey was also the first person Jake ever smiled at.

And Mikey is never ashamed to express how much Jake, the best gift he could ever receive, means to him.

“He tells me things like, ‘You are a part of me, and I will never let anything bad happen to you,’” Jessica explained. Mikey keeps a picture of Jake in his wallet as well.
