Chet Hanks, actor Tom Hanks’ son, has spoken up about his “difficult” upbringing, hinting that having famous parents isn’t always as beautiful as it appears.

Growing up in a family of celebrities, one could argue that his life hasn’t always been a bed of roses.

Chet Wilson, the actor Rita Wilson and Forrest Gump star’s son, claimed in a YouTube video that while he “loves his parents” and “wouldn’t want any different parents,” he lacked a “strong male role model” when he was a child.

Many people, he claimed, had “contempt” for him because of his famous parents, and he wanted someone to tell him, “Hey, bro, f*** these people.” They are simply envious of you.

“My experience was even more complicated because I wasn’t even famous, on top of fame already being toxic,” Hanks says.

“You know, I wasn’t even doing anything to deserve any sort of recognition, I was just the son of somebody famous, and it produced a lot of scorn, a lot of contempt for me,” he explained.

“Even though I really wasn’t,” Hanks added, “they just believed I was a really snooty, entitled privileged brat while my father was “on this pedestal.”

People would form views about me before they had a chance to get to know me, and it was tough to break through their barriers. As a result, he said, “I encountered a lot of contempt, hatred, and negativity because everyone was just prepared to hate my guts.”

Due to the ‘rage’ he was harboring, he eventually developed a ‘chip on his shoulder’ and a ‘hard exterior’.

“People kind of f***ed with me a lot while I was growing up, added Hanks. “It was never in front of me. It was always done behind my back, in the form of s***-talking and gossip.”

He argues that after beginning on “a path of self-destruction” in his twenties, he “doesn’t have anything to prove” anymore.

“It took me a while to realize that people were jealous, and that’s why I was dealing with all this hate,” Hanks continued.

He denies being a “timid youngster who just wanted to fit in and keep out of the spotlight because if I had been, I wouldn’t have been a factor.”

However, he also acknowledged that he had a privileged upbringing and that he was “fortunate” to have been born to well-known parents.

There are many benefits, but occasionally things might get strange, he said.

“I got to do a lot of fun stuff that not many other people get to do.

“I’m really fortunate to have had the opportunity to travel the world, stay in luxurious hotels, and fly on private aircraft. I wouldn’t alter my circumstances.
