A video of 9-year-old Quaden Bayles sobbing in his mother’s car after being mistreated at school moved people all around the world to tears in February 2020. Quaden was born with the genetic condition Achondroplasia, which causes dwarfism.
Yarraka, Quaden’s mother, revealed in the video how she saw her son go “to the car in hysterics because he doesn’t want me to raise a problem at school.” She went on to claim that she had just seen another student clap her son on the back and make fun of his height. Quaden can be heard on the video expressing suicidal thoughts, while his mother states, “I’ve got a boy who is suicidal practically every single day.” Bullying operates in this manner, people.
Quaden’s mother went on to say that bullying affected the family almost continuously while they were out in public, not only at school. In an interview with SBS, Yarraka stated that Quaden attempted suicide for the first time when he was just six years old, following the death of his grandfather.
Yarraka sobs in the video as she adds, “I just want people to know and witness the damage because this could be your child or your child could be the bully that pushes a kid over the brink.” God forbid that another child takes his or her own life as a result of bullying.
Fortunately, a few people did connect with the sad video. Hugh Jackman and other Australian celebrities were drawn to the viral video, which encouraged the young person. To gather money to take Quaden’s family to Disneyland, comedian Brad Williams set up a GoFundMe page. A whooping $400,000 was given to the charity.
The family eventually stated that they would donate the money to a nearby charity because they believed that such organizations needed it the most. Despite not visiting Disneyland, Quaden was delighted by rugby matches and other celebrity meet-ups. Meanwhile, strangers from all over the world continued to send Quaden and his mother supportive and kind messages.
One of Quaden’s new admirers was Australian director George Miller. Miller, widely renowned for his post-apocalyptic “Mad Max” series, was struck by the young boy’s story. The filmmaker went over and beyond by putting Quaden in not one but two of his upcoming films, while other celebrities contributed to Quaden’s GoFundMe.
The first, “Three Thousand Years of Longing,” stars Tilda Swinton as a scholar and Idris Elba as a genie, respectively. The short story “The Djinn in the Nightingale’s Eye” by A. S. Byatt inspired the film. There was a standing ovation when the film premiered at Cannes. Despite the fact that Quaden played a little role, Miller decided to recast the young actor in one of his upcoming films.
Miller stated in an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald, “It was good for us and it was good for him.” According to sources, Quaden appears in the film dressed appropriately bizarrely. And he did such a great job that he has a little part in Furiosa, Miller added.
The only thing we know about the “Mad Max” prequel is that the movie stars Anya Taylor-Joy and emerging sensation Quaden. Audiences will likely pay close attention to his big-screen debut.
While fans will have to wait a little longer to see Quaden in action on the big screen, they will have the opportunity to witness him in action on the red carpet on August 28, 2022, at the premiere of Miller’s film “Three Thousand Years of Longing.” According to SBS, the now-11-year-old made his first red-carpet appearance.
