Being a good mother, or even a great mother, does not always include lavishing your children with hugs and kisses to demonstrate your affection. You can express your love for your children by being harsh with them and teaching them what is good and wrong.

When tensions were high on the streets of Baltimore in 2015, a young, masked man was among several who rioted and flung rocks at police.

A woman who did not identify herself saw the ruckus and moved like a heat-seeking missile toward the young man in less than a minute. Despite the mask covering his face, she recognized it as her son.

When she arrived, she attempted to remove his mask. Then she began smacking him with her tongue and striking him on the head. She was embarrassed by what he did to police officers, and she knew he was doing wrong because he had been taught better.

“The National Guard is unnecessary in Baltimore.” A passerby commented, “They need more parents like this one!”
