If you’ve ever imagined what life will be like at 100 years old, it might be time to reconsider.
That is, if you have any resemblance to Mick Roberts, a Connecticut centenarian.
According to reports, Roberts recently competed in and finished the 5K Haddam Neck Fair Road Race, capturing the attention of the entire state.
Mick allegedly participated in the event just a few days after reaching the milestone age of 100. She astonishingly finished the 3.1-mile distance in 56 minutes.
She told Fox61 News, «You’ve got to move a little, here we come.»
«Yeah, I move right along,» she continued.
Mick mentioned that she walks briskly on a regular basis. Forget about kicking back and watching TV all day.
She routinely abandons people, including her son Chuck and daughter-in-law Donna Roberts.
«She’s leading the way here,» Donna added. She’ll lead us, and we’ll just follow. That’s all there is to say about it.
Chuck responded, «Running a 5K isn’t that big a deal.» She walks two to three kilometers every day.
Mick agreed, adding that despite her advanced age, a 5K route wouldn’t be too difficult for her.
No, it’s not difficult; there’s only one tricky portion, Mick pointed out.
It certainly increases the bar, so when my kids say, «Oh no, we don’t want to do the Manchester Road Race this year,» they should keep in mind that my late grandmother ran the 5K.
When asked about her daily itinerary, Mick responded that she prefers to leave the house two to three times every day.
«I do it twice or three times a day; it doesn’t take long.» «I don’t like sitting around; I prefer to get out in the air and move,» the 100-year-old explained.
Given the challenges this courageous woman has faced, her persistence and willpower are unsurprising. Mick has survived the deaths of two of her three sons and her husband.
These days, she works to make others happy by spreading love and positivity.
