According to the zoo, Drs. Laura Whisler and Janna Chibry of College Hill OB-GYN aided the zoo’s veterinary team in performing the cesarean delivery. Since 2010, the couple has collaborated with Sedgwick County Zoo veterinarians on all great ape pregnancies; Lily, a Sumatran orangutan, was delivered through C-section in 2018.
