Attending school on their own can be highly stressful for many youngsters, especially in the beginning when they are not adjusted to that new chapter of their lives. Being separated from one’s parents can be a traumatic event for any child.
Sweet Axel Johnson seemed ecstatic as he prepared to start school. When his mother Amy snapped a photo of him, he was grinning broadly as he waited for the school bus.

When it was time for him to board, his demeanor altered and he appeared to be on the verge of crying. Axel was clearly not as tough as he thought he would be when he had to separate from his mother.
Isabel Lane, the bus driver, noticed Axel’s look change from happy to sad, but she was determined to persuade him that taking the bus and going to school with a lot more kids his age wasn’t unsafe. Isabel placed her hand behind Axel, who was sitting on the bench behind her, and Axel clasped her hand. Amy was able to photograph it, and it was a very special moment.
In addition to her position as a driver, Isabel displayed concern for the children’s enjoyment. She wanted Axel to realize that even though his mother wasn’t present, he could always rely on her while riding the bus. Her gesture comforted the worried boy that everything would be fine.

Amy posted the photo of her son with the bus driver on Facebook because she thought it was important to share. While she was expecting it to be well-received, she had no idea it would receive so many compliments.
The image was shared by the local police department, which received over 2,400 reactions.
Isabel was surprised by the compliments she received. “I personally didn’t think it was a big deal. “I suppose this is something I would do,” she replied.
It was, nevertheless, significant. Axel wasn’t as scared the next day because he knew he had Isabel as a friend. He was excited to begin a new adventure and was all smiles.

Thanks in large part to Isabel, Axel now eagerly anticipates each new school day.
