Willie Nelson Reveals That Marrying His 32-Year-Old Wife Was ‘The Smartest Thing’ He Ever Did

Talking about country music would be incomplete without mentioning its foundational figure, Willie Nelson. Nelson, one of the greatest live musical icons of all time, is 90 years old.

Nelson was born on April 29, 1933, just before midnight, in the small Texas rural village of Abbott.

Nelson spent his whole childhood with his grandparents, where he developed an early love in music while helping them in their cotton fields until he was ten years old.

Nelson’s musical career began several years later when he began playing guitar in German and Czech polka ensembles.

He joined the Air Force after high school and briefly attended college before leaving.

According to Rolling Stone, he continued to teach Sunday school kids before being sacked because the institution disapproved of his playing music in honky-tonk businesses.

After his anticipated success did not materialize, Nelson decided to try his luck in Nashville. He met composer Hank Cochran there.

He admired Nelson’s work and assisted him in obtaining his first publishing deal, paving the way for a career in the country music industry.

Nelson has had a lot of success since he made his breakthrough. With his notoriety and prosperity came a colorful personal life highlighted by multiple decades-long marriages.

Nelson persevered in the face of adversity, including a run-in with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

They’ve been inseparable since Annie D’Angelo first assisted the country music great in overcoming various life problems in 1991.

After keeping a quiet profile for many years, he married D’Angelo in 1991. Their two children, Jacob Micah and Lukas Autry, were born.

Renee Butts came out in 2012, claiming to be Nelson’s child from a previous relationship with his acquaintance Mary Haney.

D’Angelo’s marriage to Nelson, and his devotion for him, lasted, and the couple is still together today.

Nelson met his wife for the first time in 1986 while working as a makeup artist on one of the films he was in.

Autry, his eldest kid with D’Angelo, spoke movingly of his parents’ love.

When Nelson converted his home, D’Angelo was not only a lovely wife, but she also created the best nurse.

During the pandemic, they were admitted to a hospital. D’Angelo told The New York Times that she was stricter than she had ever been.

‘If I have to be the bad guy to keep him safe, I’ll be the bad guy,’ she declared. ‘A virus is unconcerned about who you are, what you think, or how well-known you are.’
