Tom Jones finally speaks out about «collapse» and affirms our collective fears.

Tom Jones has spent his whole adult life in the public eye. When he was 23 years old, he started his first band, and he later rose to become one of the greatest musicians ever. He survived it all while being faithfully wed to his wife Linda for 60 years, till her tragic passing in 2016.

The 82-year-old is currently back on the road following the Covid-19 crisis. Jones, meanwhile, has experienced his fair share of health-related challenges recently.

The famed crooner, in fact, had to cancel a performance in Budapest just a few days earlier because there were concerns he had fainted. Jones has made the decision to go public with what happened in order to finally dispel any misconceptions regarding his health.

Tom Jones began his profession as an entertainer very early on. Jones, who was given the name Thomas John Woodward on June 7, 1940, was raised in the Welsh town of Pontypridd.

He has always enjoyed singing and has frequently done so at family get-togethers, in the school choir, as well as at weddings and the meetings of his mother Freda’s Women’s Guild.

Tom struggled at school because of his dyslexia, which was identified when he was a young child. He particularly enjoyed listening to American blues, R&B, and rock on the radio.

Another setback came when he was 12 years old and was informed that he had tuberculosis and would need to spend the next two years in quarantine.

«I was confined to the house for two years; I was unable to go,» he alleged. «For the first year, I was unable to leave my bed. Outside in the garden was the restroom.

Since that was the only place I could be by myself in our three-story home, I was in the backroom on the middle floor.

Fortunately, Tom survived, and not long after that, he moved on with his life. He dropped out of school at age 16 and quickly became a father. He started to get more and more fascinated in the fresh rock ‘n’ roll sounds on the radio at about the same time. Additionally, he developed feelings for Linda.

Jones spoke to Radio 2 and recalled the first time he saw her.

My God, what great legs she has, I thought as I watched her play marbles. We dated because she was the most attractive female there. He declared, “It was magic.

When Tom was barely 17 years old, he married Linda. Just one month later, their son Mark was born.

Despite their lengthy and devoted marriage, there were minor conflicts. In 1968, Tom had an affair with Mary Wilson, a singer with The Supremes.

In an interview with the Mirror, Tom claimed that despite having an affair, he, Mary, and his wife had developed strong friendships, according to Express.

Additionally, he said that Mary was Linda’s «family friend» from the time they first met until Linda’s passing.

«I must admit, in the 1960s, we came pretty darn close. I can’t argue with that, Tom said. «However, she was able to meet my wife because I was still happily married. Honestly. They consequently became close.

At the age of 23, Tom made the decision to quit the local band Tommy Scott and the Senators in an effort to launch a solo career. But first, his new agent in London, Gordon Mills, urged him to make a big adjustment. Gordon stated that Thomas Woodward needed to change his stage name because he didn’t think it was the most elegant.

Tom Jones was the name Mills offered since it sounded “very Welsh and laddish.”

Tom immediately got bored of the project after starting to record demos. Mills then presented Tom with a song that he had written on his own. «It’s Not Unusual» is a song.

Sandie Shaw, a young soprano, was originally going to record it, according to Mills’ initial plans.

In spite of his manager’s plans, Tom was able to make the song work after recording a demo of it.

For hearing the tape and saying, «Whoever is singing this song, it’s his song,» Tom thanked Sandie Shaw.

On November 11, 1964, I started working on It’s Not Unusual. by January 22, 1965, it was completed, and by March 1, St. David’s Day, it had earned the top rank. Tremendous!»

Jones focused on the US once It’s Not Unusual became a big success. Tom had the chance to perform on the renowned Ed Sullivan Show as a result of the song’s huge success. Additionally, the song went on to rank among the top 10 hits in the US.

Tom continued to release songs, and he soon became a superstar. He may have been at his best in the second half of the 1960s when he released singles like Once Upon a Time, Green, Green Grass of Home, I’m Coming Home, Delilah, and Help Yourself.

At the storied hotel The Flamingo, Tom gave his first Las Vegas performance in 1967. He became a US superstar during his time in Vegas, and his time there also allowed him to meet and become friends with Elvis Presley, another frequent visitor.

In the 1970s, Tom started presenting his own television show, and he is still well-known today. He was 82 years old at the time of writing, but his work hasn’t slowed down at all. With songs like She’s a Lady and numerous other singles, Tom made sure he never faded from view.

As a result of his outstanding musical accomplishments, he has become one of the greatest music superstars and won Grammy Awards, Brit Awards, and countless other awards. Jones was awarded a knighthood by Queen Elizabeth in 2016 for his musical achievements. With the release of his most recent album, Surrounded By Time, in May 2021, he broke the record for the oldest individual to ever top the UK album chart.

Tom had his first child when he was a teenager, as was already mentioned. He married Linda Trenchard in 1957, and they were partners for a very long time. Sadly, Sir Tom had to say goodbye to his beloved life partner after Linda passed away in 2016 following a «short but fierce» battle with lung cancer.

In an interview with This Morning, Tom disclosed the terrible details of her dying and vowed vehemently that he would «never love again.»

Simply put, he was devastated by the loss of his wife and found it difficult to continue performing on stage after Linda passed away.

Tom said, “When my wife died, I didn’t think I could sing. “Your voice locks up and you can’t sing when you’re upset.

“There are some songs that I wouldn’t perform. However, you must make an effort to view things objectively. Use your emotion to your advantage and incorporate it into the music.

I needed some time,» he continued. «I didn’t start singing right away to see if I could. When I had several of my musicians around, I played a couple of songs for them. But it was genuinely heartfelt.

After Linda passed away, Jones made the decision to sell the big mansion they shared in Los Angeles, together with all of their belongings, and move back to the UK.

According to reports, Linda suggested that he move into an apartment in London. Reports state that his late wife wanted to go back to her homeland since she was feeling lonely, but the disease took her life before she could.

Tom and Linda were wed for more than 60 years. She frequently said she wanted to return but was unable to, so in the last week of her life, Tom recounted, «She told me to do it.»

Tom has reportedly struggled with back issues for a number of years. But even at 82 years old, the iconic singer works hard to stay in shape. We must admit that he appears incredibly young for his age!

On that point, Jones has disclosed that he practices a peculiar form of self-care that many people would likely deem to be very odd.

In an interview with the Mirror, Jones described the “inversion therapy” method he used. He hangs upside down, and it is claimed to improve blood flow. Additionally, it’s thought that changing the body’s gravity will relieve pressure on the spine and back.

Those with scoliosis, persistent lower back discomfort, and poor circulation can gain from this particular kind of therapy.

Tom Jones stated, “I’ll be 90 years old in 2030.” “I hang backward. On one of those frames, you know. The best. You insert your feet inside the device, flip, and hang.

Jones has also significantly cut back on his alcohol consumption and now just occasionally enjoys a glass of wine or beer. In the man’s own words, the difference is starting to become apparent.

«A trainer comes to see me. a lot of stretching and boxing, mixed together. He stated that it provides your heart a wonderful workout.

«I only drink wine with dinner, with a pint of beer every now and again. I also make an effort to monitor my diet.

He declared, «I’ve got a 12-pack.» That’s a lot of luck, though, and health is absolutely essential. You must search for yourself.

On his current European tour, Tom is performing once again. But things took a turn for the worst a few days ago when he had to cancel a gig.

Following the death of his wife in 2016, Tom wasn’t sure if he would ever sing again. But his passion for music won out, and happily, he will be able to perform once more for audiences all over the world and in Europe.

His most recent performance during his European tour was scheduled to take place in Budapest. But Tom called off the performance an hour before he was scheduled to take the stage. The vocalist of It’s Not Unusual allegedly “collapsed,” and physicians were summoned to the stadium, according to rumors.

Fans naturally worried that Tom was having serious health problems. Fortunately, that wasn’t the case. Tom Jones announced on his Instagram page that he had been diagnosed with viral laryngitis. Additionally, he refuted reports that he had passed out.

“Hello to everyone involved. I flew overnight from the UK to Budapest, and this morning I woke up with a sore throat,” said Jones.

“An expert visited and gave the diagnosis of “viral laryngitis.” He strongly suggested delaying tonight’s performance and provided medicine as well as vocal rest. This is untrue; I never “collapsed” anywhere or at any time. I am eager to continue my beautiful summer tour, so I’m hoping the inflammation will subside soon.

The Budapest event has been rescheduled and will now take place on August 16, Tom said, adding that he was “extremely sorry” for canceling the show at the last minute.

Jones concluded his remarks by saying, “Thanks once more for all your kind care.”
