In the classroom, a 6-year-old student who is deaf had a rather amusing moment when she let out a fart, causing a few of their classmates to burst into laughter. The child was taken aback by the attention she received, completely unaware of the audible nature of farting. Trupiano later shared with her student that certain bodily noises can be audible to others. The incident also highlighted the lack of access to such information when loved ones aren’t able to sign.
