The tragic passing of a young high school student at her graduation ceremony has left the entire community in a state of grief.
According to distressing reports, Sienna Stewart, who is only 18 years old, was diagnosed with heart failure in April. This devastating news comes after she had received a life-saving transplant ten years ago. Sienna has been living with severe cardiomyopathy since the age of 4 and recently started experiencing health issues.
According to reports, the transplant had enabled her to lead a «fairly normal life for a decade,» but she began to experience weakness and a decrease in energy.
In a recent interview, Saevon Chum’s mother shared the distressing experience of her daughter collapsing, recounting a particularly alarming incident that occurred during her graduation on Thursday, May 23, 2024.
In a video shared by Hiram High School, the school principal can be heard urgently requesting a moment of patience: «Just give us a second please, we have a student, just give us a second…»
Upon Saevon’s arrival, paramedics were already tending to her daughter. «When I arrived, the ambulance had already arrived,» the mother remembered. She had fainted. She experienced another episode. But this was the first time she collapsed unconscious.”
After a few minutes, Sienna woke up and made the choice to go to her ceremony rather than going to the hospital.
She expressed her strong desire to graduate and walk across the stage. According to Saevon, all she wanted was to attend her senior prom, but unfortunately, she missed it due to being in the hospital.
Unfortunately, Sienna passed away on Wednesday, June 12, just a few weeks after graduating.
“As a mom, you feel so proud because she just fought through something that hurts her. You have to be proud. Until the very end», Saevon expressed his pride for her daughter.
According to Sienna’s obituary, the young woman had aspirations of attending college and was set to pursue a career in sonogram technology starting in the fall.
