There’s nothing more heartwarming or fulfilling than becoming a parent. Watching a tiny new person enter the world makes your heart melt. Life as you know it will be forever changed. Initially, babies mostly sleep, poop, and cry. But as the weeks go by, their personality starts to shine through.
Parents often want to cherish every moment, yet they eagerly anticipate key milestones, like walking and talking. Regarding the latter, some parents find themselves competing a bit. The mom hopes for the baby’s first word to be “mama,” while the dad wishes for “dada.” It’s a waiting game where only the baby has the final say.
One dad came up with a creative idea to spend quality time with his baby while gaining an advantage in this verbal race.
In a video with nearly 17,000 views and plenty of laughs, a father reads a book to his child. The baby seems captivated by each page, which features bold words paired with photos of different animals, aiming to teach the child to talk.
As the father reads through the book, the video becomes increasingly humorous. He first says “dada” and then “moo” for a cow. On the next page, he says “dada” and “baa” for a sheep. When he reaches the duck, he says, “dada, quack, quack.” He continues this pattern with a dog and a cat.
This routine persists for several minutes. He’s set on having his child say “dada” before “mama,” so he continues with sounds for a mouse, donkey, frog, baby bird, and more, all while his baby giggles. Despite his efforts, the baby unexpectedly says “mama” while looking directly at the camera. The parents laugh heartily, while the baby seems puzzled by their reaction.
The timing was perfect. Despite his determination, things didn’t go as planned. It’s unclear whether the baby was more engaged with the book, the animal sounds, or spending time with Dad. Regardless, this will be a cherished memory and a good laugh for the family in the future.
It’s likely the baby knew exactly what he was doing, adding to the humor. Instead of complying with the dad’s wishes, he did the complete opposite.
