Ingredients:
- Baking dish: 9×13 inches
- All-purpose flour: ~2 ¾ cups (330 g)
- Granulated sugar: ¾ cup (150 g)
- Unsalted butter: ⅔ cup (150 g), softened
- Eggs: 3 large
- Apples: 4 large (about 1.3 pounds or 600 g)
- Baking powder: 2 teaspoons
- Vanilla extract: 1 teaspoon (or 8 g vanilla sugar)
- Salt: to taste
Topping:
- All-purpose flour: ⅓ cup (50 g)
- Granulated sugar: ¼ cup (50 g)
- Unsalted butter: 3 tablespoons (40 g)
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
- Start by making the crumble topping. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and softened butter. Mix for about 30 seconds until crumbly. Place in the refrigerator to chill.
- In another bowl, beat the softened butter with sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt using a mixer for about 3-4 minutes until the mixture lightens and increases in volume.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing for about a minute after each addition.
- Gradually add the sifted flour and baking powder, mixing until combined to form a smooth batter.
- For the filling, peel and chop the apples into small pieces. You can add cinnamon if desired.
- Gently fold the apples into the batter until evenly distributed.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly with a spatula.
- Sprinkle the chilled crumble topping over the batter.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 40 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
