Security footage from Palazzo Maffei Museum in Verona, Italy, captured a shocking scene: a man and a woman taking turns photographing each other while pretending to sit on a world-famous designer chair encrusted with Swarovski crystals—known as the “Van Gogh Chair.”
What looked like an innocent photo moment quickly turned into a disaster. The duo accidentally broke two of the chair’s legs, causing serious damage to the delicate glass-and-crystal art piece. Instead of notifying museum staff, the pair quietly left the scene without a word.
Museum officials alerted the police and are now seeking help identifying the couple. Director Vanessa Carlon said, “Sometimes people get so obsessed with a picture, they forget the consequences. This may have seemed like an accident, but walking away without saying anything? That’s deliberate.”
Fortunately, the museum managed to repair the chair, which is now back on display. But the hunt continues for the unknown selfie-seekers who may have caused thousands in damage—just for a viral moment.
