In 1930s Italy, Paolo’s world was nothing but smoke and sweat inside a glass factory. At 14, he was already working long shifts to support his family. But at night, something magical happened.

Paolo would sketch faces and landscapes on the backs of factory invoices.

One day, an art professor visiting the factory caught a glimpse of one. Shocked by the talent, he offered Paolo a full scholarship. Paolo went on to become one of Italy’s most celebrated painters.

He never forgot the factory—or the dreams born in the shadows.
