This woman fought for six years to adopt a boy she met at an orphanage.

A 23-year-old woman who initiated a legal battle to adopt a child from another country exemplifies how people can find meaning in their lives in the most unexpected places. Six years later, the dream has come true. Emily went to Uganda to volunteer at an orphanage in search of meaning in her life, where she discovered it through her volunteer work.

There, she met a small toddler whose mother had recently died, leaving him without a caregiver. Adam is the name of the young child who has won this English lady’s heart. This Worcestershire, England, native had no idea she’d become a mother through adoption. She had never contemplated adoption before seeing the child, but her mind was immediately changed!

“I knew it would be incredibly hard to say goodbye, but I wasn’t thinking about adopting him,” she added. The girl’s travel finances ran out in 2015, forcing her to return to England, where she had first visited Adam when he was just five days old. She taught for two years in her own country in order to save enough money to return to Uganda and adopt Adam.

Emily is hired as an international teacher in the African country, where she re-encounters Adam. The pair temporarily relocates to a rented apartment, where the girl meets Josh, a 33-year-old security guard who will become her long-term companion. The girl who was so adamant about adopting Adam was granted a child custody hearing in 2018, but the procedure is far from simple.

Everything goes wrong all the time. Things happen, records are lost, and courts get overturned. After spending a total of four and a half years in Uganda for the adoption process, Emily and her family finally returned home. Since this girl’s internet post went viral, she’s created a GoFundMe to help pay for the subsequent legal fees. Many were touched by the tale and resolved to cooperate as a result.

After over four and a half years, in November 2020, Emily finally obtained Adam’s visa and passport to bring him back to the UK via the adoption procedure. Although the epidemic caused more delay, Emily is now fighting in court to make it possible for other countries to adopt British children. Despite the numerous obstacles and bureaucratic hurdles she had to jump, the woman’s life is meaningful in the eyes of the little son.

Nothing is more important than a mother’s presence within days of delivery, and she is willing to completely change her routine to be at her newborn’s side. Emily and Adam have recently arrived in the United Kingdom. But now the young lady is dealing with the agony of being separated from her lover, Josh, who is still in Uganda. Emily, on the other hand, is positive that they will be reunited as a family in the not-too-distant future.
