An 8-month-old Yorkshire Terrier puppy is fortunate to be alive after escaping the claws of a bald eagle. The terrifying moment a tiny Chihuahua called Coco was taken from her backyard in Metlakatla, British Columbia, was seen on doorbell video.
Coco looks up as she drinks water from a dish on the back patio. When the dog sees the eagle approaching (from off frame), he barks, but it’s too late; the bird swoops in and takes Coco.

The sound of her yowling and rushing back to the front door was recorded on video.
Coco’s father, Justin Dudoward, told Storyful that he had just released Coco outside and stepped back inside, only to run back to the door after hearing his daughter cry. Coco, terrified, hurried back inside.
“It was terrifying.” “We didn’t realize it was that severe until we went back and looked at my doorbell video,” Dudoward said.
Dudoward said that he brought Coco to the veterinarian after discovering a laceration in her tummy. Coco, thankfully, has recovered after a brief hospital stay and has returned to playing outdoors “as if nothing had happened to her.”
