Since arriving in the United States in 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have built a strong relationship with Oprah Winfrey, owing in large part to their candid interview with the talk show host in March 2021. The couple’s private sit-down became a cultural landmark as they discussed their experiences with the British monarchy and the reasons they left royal life. In a recent interview with Extra TV to promote her new film, Sidney (about the late Sidney Poitier), Winfrey expressed her hope for the royal family in restoring familial relationships.
“I think… when all families come together for a common ceremony, the ritual of burying your dead, there’s a potential for peacemaking, and maybe there will be that,” the respected TV personality remarked. The 68-year-old also talked about her father’s death, which happened in July when Vernon Winfrey died of cancer.

During his candid conversation with Winfrey, Prince Harry discussed his rocky ties with his brother, Prince William, and their father, King Charles III. The aired interview sparked outrage throughout the world, particularly when an unknown royal family member made racial remarks. At the time, Prince Harry said that neither of his grandparents had ever said anything like this.
Following the meeting, there was a continuous sense of strain among the family, as Buckingham Palace issued a statement and Prince William responded to a press query by stressing, “We are very much not a racist family,” according to Sky News.
However, there appears to be some hope, as Prince William and his wife Kate (now Princess of Wales) were accompanied by Prince Harry and Meghan as they addressed mourners at Windsor. People saw the couples, who kept quiet for the most part, looking at the tributes to the Queen.
