The music video for Michael Jackson’s song «Smooth Criminal» was first made public in the 88th year of the twentieth century.
Fans of the singer were taken aback not by the song itself, but by the performer’s impressive dance moves.
He decided to defy gravity at one point, and as a result, he was able to lean forward as much as 45 degrees without even bending or shaking his body.
After the initial frenzy subsided, many speculated that Michael Jackson was restrained by cables.
But Michael chose to pique his fans’ interest in him as a person while also surprising them. He performed the stunt in front of a live audience during one of his shows.
Furthermore, there were no visible cables wrapping around the star. But how did the average person manage to do it?
The secret behind the tilt was revealed later.
Michael, along with two other inventive individuals, was responsible for the creation of a one-of-a-kind device that enabled him to successfully pull off the trick.
Specialized shoes were used to keep the performer’s feet on the ground.
Although Michael Jackson was known throughout his career for his love of unique footwear, the stunt shoes had a very unremarkable appearance, with the only thing that made them stand out is the rather thick heel.
The shoes, on the other hand, were keeping a secret from you. Their heels have triangular triangle recesses on the side of the sole.
There were special hooks that were taken out off the stage at the appropriate time and almost «fixed» the singer so that he could bend over and demonstrate the wonders of antigravity to the audience.
By the way, Michael and his co-inventors received a patent for their one-of-a-kind shoes in 1993.
Jackson’s act continued to astound his audience until 1996. Michael performed in Moscow during that particular year while on tour in Russia.
He had every intention of performing the stunt again, but something went wrong. The broken peg was caused by an incorrectly locked peg.
And Jackson took a tumble, but he walked away with no serious injuries.
Following the performance, both the shattered shoes and the obsession were transported to Moscow’s Hard Rock Cafe, where they remained until the musician’s death.
Then, at another auction, they were sold for a whopping sixty thousand dollars when they went under the hammer.
