For the rest of their lives, this couple will recall the day their car caught fire.
Brooklynn Stevens and Myers Hart were in a rental car with a friend in Tennessee on May 9 when they heard a “loud blast,” according to NBC station WSMV-TV.

Despite the fact that they were all able to exit the truck safely before it “went up in flames,” Hart told the magazine that he immediately realized one very important item remained inside: an engagement ring.
After extinguishing the flames, firemen were skillfully notified of the car’s priceless payload.
“Rescuers made a crucial SAVE during the salvage and overhaul of the car,” Williamson Fire-Rescue said on Facebook, adding that “the driver had recently purchased an engagement ring for his girlfriend.”
Thankfully, even though “nearly all contents and the car were destroyed,” the ring box containing this “very significant artifact” was salvaged with little damage.

The box was “melted against the seat,” according to Steve Hopkins, a volunteer fire engineer, although the ring itself “looked brand new.”
“Really, it was a miracle,” Hopkins added.
Although it was not the most traditional setting for a proposal, Hart told WSMV-TV that the fact that the ring survived the fire was “a message.”
“He goes down on one knee, and I’m like, ‘Here?’” Stevens remembered. “‘Here?’ I asked. How about right now? Are you serious, like the automobile just caught fire? Yes, I mean it! Yes, of course, I do. ‘However, like the vehicle.’”
