This is a bold decision for someone as young as De Rijcke, but singing a song does not necessarily mean living the song. She took it with the customary coolness and composure.
De Rijcke performed American singer Nicki Minaj’s song “Grand Piano” as the program’s last tune. This song is about a woman who doubts her lover’s loyalty and sincerity in the relationship. The singer also invests a lot of time in self-analysis to determine whether she has ever made a mistake. De Rijcke seems to take pleasure in talking about problematic relationships.
Jade De Rijcke has overcome her obstacles and won a tournament that it appeared impossible for her to win, despite the melancholy and angst in each of her music selections. Watching the video exemplifies what a potential champion looks like, and this is an uplifting narrative.
