This is why specialists in the ABC News video below stress the importance of speed. You will most likely have less than a minute to operate and get out of the automobile. They urge people to get out of a drowning automobile before it sinks, which means you only have a few seconds to get out of the car. The important procedures are to remove your belt and open the automobile windows within 30 to 60 seconds.

People in the back seat will most likely have to exit through the front windows because rear automobile windows do not usually open, so passengers should be informed on what to do in an emergency. If there are children in the rear seats, grownups will most likely have to assist them in getting out of their seats and pull and push them through the windows.

If you drown before exiting, make sure you have a vehicle window breaking seatbelt cutter on hand. In the absence of such a tool, the rescue advice is to attempt smashing the automobile windows by striking the side edges rather than the center. Because they are composed of tempered glass, automobile windows are significantly more prone to shattering than a car’s windshield.
