On the red carpet at the 2022 Emmy Awards on Monday, Ben Stiller made it a beautiful little family affair. The director of Severance took his daughter Ella as his date, and his pleased expression as the two posed for photos told it all.
Stiller, who was nominated for two Emmys for Severance, accompanied his 20-year-old daughter Ella to the 74th Emmy Awards to pose with him on the red carpet. He wore a traditional tuxedo, while Ella, whom he shares with wife Christine Taylor, wore a classic black spaghetti-strapped frock. Ella is “very proud” of her father, she remarked on the red carpet, adding, “he’s the finest!”
It probably didn’t hurt that Stiller had recently told E! that he would “probably” be willing to cast Ella in Severance. Although I believe he was joking.

Ella already has a reputation for cracking her father’s chops when she thinks he needs it, so she might be a good fit for Severance. Stiller revealed to Esquire last summer that his daughter had chastised him for not being present enough when she was a toddler. “She’s quite vocal about it, and sometimes she says things I don’t want to hear.” “It’s difficult to hear,” he admitted at the time. “Because I’m not there in the same way that I saw my parents not there.” And I’d always thought, ‘Well, I’m not going to do that.’ ”
The Meet the Parents star went on to say that he had to learn that his children “don’t keep score” about his job and instead “want a dad who’s emotionally there and supportive of them.” ” That’s probably what they want more than me going out and stretching my creative muscles.”
Now that Ella is at the Emmys, being interviewed on the red carpet with her father, I’m curious whether he believes he’s earned some bonus points. We’ll be crossing our fingers for him.
