Bollywood Boy and Little Princess dance to the beat of the boogie Woogie. Boogie-woogie is a blues music genre that gained popularity in the late 1920s after being developed in African-American communities in the 1870s.

It evolved from piano to piano duo and trio, guitar, big band, country and western music, and gospel. While traditional blues expresses a wide range of emotions, boogie-woogie is mostly associated with dancing and Boogie-woogie dance. Boogie-woogie is not only a solo piano style; it can also be heard in orchestras and small combos.

It is sometimes referred to as “eight to the bar” because much of it is written in common time with eighth notes (quavers). The chord progressions are typically based on I-IV-V-I (with many formal variations such as I/i-IV/iv-v/I and chords that lead into these).
