Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer are still close friends after expressing their love for one another and walking off joyfully into the sunset in the memorable Friends finale. The pair, who played on-again, off-again couple Rachel Green and Ross Geller in the comedy from 1994 to 2004, shared a sort of reunion on Instagram. And the surprise moment delighted Friends fans.
At first, everything appeared to be normal, with Aniston posting a teaser of her haircare brand Lolavie’s new items on Instagram. The snapshot, which was shot with a throwback film appearance, showed the actress with lathered hair as she posed in front of a luxury shower. Aniston wrote “Something’s coming” in the photo’s caption, referring to her new Restorative Shampoo and Conditioner set, which just came out.

This is where Schwimmer came in, mocking up Aniston’s beautiful photo. The actor posed in a shower, looking far less relaxed than his former co-star. With soap all over his face and torso, the actor replied to Aniston’s comment, “A towel, I hope?” “Well done, Schwimmer.

Aniston was quick to answer, teasing, “Schwim!? Are you attempting to steal my thunder?” Unsurprisingly, a slew of Friends fans chimed in, scribbling memorable quotations from the hit sitcom. One viewer said, “He’s your lobster.” The quote originates from a classic scene in which Phoebe Buffay (Lisa Kudrow) begs Schwimmer’s character Ross to re-marry Rachel (Aniston) because they’re meant to be together; or, as Phoebe puts it, “it’s a known truth that lobsters fall in love and mate for life.” (Spoiler: Marine biologists say otherwise, but still, a lovely sentiment.)
Fans expecting a full-fledged life-imitating-art relationship between the two amusing co-stars will have to wait for now. During the Friends reunion in 2021, both Aniston and Schwimmer said that they liked each other, but they stressed that their relationship was only platonic.

“The beauty of that was that we really truly channeled everything we had into Ross and Rachel, and I think that’s maybe why it resonated the way it did,” Aniston later told radio presenter Howard Stern. But we never did… Courteney [Cox] and Lisa [Kudrow] would be aware of this and can attest for me. If that happened, I’d be pleased to say I smacked Schwimmer. But no.”
Meanwhile, making fun of each other is acceptable.
